The Listening section has become adaptive, with quick-response activities such as Listen and Choose. The Speaking section has seen the biggest change. You will need to Listen and Repeat exactly what you hear, and also take part in a virtual interview. Finally, the Writing section now includes practical tasks like writing an email to a professor or friend, making it more relevant to daily communication.

From 2026 onwards, ETS has introduced a new band score system ranging from 1.0 to 6.0, replacing the old 0–120 scale. TOEFL scores remain valid for two years from the test date. During registration, you can send your scores to selected universities for free, and later you can request additional score reports by paying a fee.
